interessano: è il cuore che fa attenti gli occhi. Quando il cuore non ha interesse, non si vede niente, non si riconosce niente; ma chi ha interesse per qualche cosa vede le minime possibilità di intervenire e ne approfitta. Questo «cuore che fa attenti gli occhi» non ha un perimetro angusto, limitato alla nostra sfera personale, ma per il battesimo la nostra vita ha il respiro del mondo e ci ha resi collaboratori dei sogni di Dio per l’umanità, sia quella sparsa nei continenti che quella che vive accanto a noi.
Tra i segni dei tempi vediamo la nebbia dell’indifferenza religiosa, il vento gelido del rifiuto dell’altro a causa del colore della pelle, per la lingua diversa, ecc… Sono segni che ci interpellano e se abbiamo a cuore il regno di Dio, sappiamo vedere le possibilità che questo tempo offre alla sua diffusione, che sono diverse da quelle dei tempi che lo hanno preceduto. Come sempre, Dio vuole la salvezza di tutti gli uomini e instancabilmente sollecita i cuori che lo amano, che hanno fiducia in lui, a cercare nuovi mezzi per diffondere il suo regno d'amore.
Domandiamo a Gesù che ci dia il discernimento che viene dal cuore, per vivere nel nostro tempo in maniera degna della nostra vocazione. Nell'umiltà, nella carità, nella mansuetudine dobbiamo oggi trovare i mezzi per far conoscere a tutti l'amore di Dio, la sua bontà, la sua misericordia e così diffondere il suo regno, il regno di Cristo, perché possa realizzarsi presto il desiderio di Dio: tutti, uomini e donne, siano contenti di vivere e arrivare a benedire l’autore della vita. Prego e vorrei che riecheggiasse nell’animo di tutti il sentimento di un uomo di colore, impegnato a sollevare le miserie del mondo, quando manifestava la sua contentezza dicendo: «Sono felice dall’alba alla sera, per il dono del canto, per il tempo, il divenire e il dolore […] Sono felice per il mio cuore dalle porte dischiuse, esse sono il varco delle meraviglie dove i sogni entrano dal tumulto e dal fragore come il gregge nell’ovile per le piogge e per i tuoni».
Il Dio della vita sia per tutti fonte di serenità, di gioia e di perenne meraviglia.
Il primo giorno di ogni anno è come una pagina bianca da riempire di sogni, di desideri, di auspici e di benedizioni. In una pagina di poesia ci sono poche parole che come ninfee galleggiano in un mare di bianco. Il bianco della pagina serve al lettore per dare ai sentimenti della poesia una carne, la carne della vita. In questo periodo la liturgia ci esorta a dare un’anima al tempo, a riconoscere i segni che Dio traccia nel cielo del tempo. Comprendere il tempo è comprendere le intenzioni di Dio. La Provvidenza divina guida tutti i secoli e per ognuno di noi chiede di scrivere una nuova pagina del suo disegno. Dobbiamo, quindi, essere attentissimi a questo disegno, attenti alla chiamata che Dio ci rivolge nel nostro tempo, perché è per questo tempo che egli ci chiama ad essere protagonisti di una storia personale incastonata nel grande mosaico della salvezza. Scoprire le intenzioni divine nella nostra esistenza significa incontrare la fonte della serenità e della gioia. Nel santo Vangelo Gesù ci dà la patente di esperti e capaci nel discernere molte cose nel mondo materiale: «Quando vedete una nuvola salire da ponente, subito dite: Viene la pioggia, e così accade.
